General GP Care

This is the foundation of what we do: caring for you when you’re unwell, helping you stay well, and supporting your health goals over time.We see patients for common acute illnesses, injuries, health concerns, and preventive care including health assessments and screening. Our doctors take time to listen and understand what’s happening for you, not just treat symptoms in isolation. If you’re not sure whether we can help with your concern, call us.

Women’s health

We provide comprehensive women’s health care across all life stages. Our doctors understand that women’s health concerns often intersect with other aspects of your wellbeing, and we take time to address your questions and concerns. This includes contraception counselling and prescribing, pregnancy care and shared antenatal care, menopause management, and cervical screening. We also manage conditions like endometriosis and PCOS where appropriate, or help coordinate care with specialists when needed.

Mens’ health

Many men put off seeing a doctor until something’s seriously wrong. We’d rather see you before that point. We provide cardiovascular health assessments, sexual health care, and management of conditions like erectile dysfunction. We also address mental health concerns, recognizing that men often face barriers to discussing emotional wellbeing.

Routine & Preventive Care

We conduct a range of medical assessments including pre-employment medicals, driver licence medicals, and comprehensive health assessments.

We believe in giving you time to understand your test results and what they mean for you, not just handing you a printout.

We use pathology services conveniently located near both practices, and results are usually available within a few days.

If you need a specific medical assessment or aren’t sure whether we can help, contact us.

Chronic Disease Management

We work with patients who have diabetes, heart disease, asthma, COPD, and other long-term conditions that need regular monitoring and coordinated care. This includes organizing investigations, adjusting treatments, and liaising with your specialists to ensure everyone’s working together.

Our practice nurses play an important role in chronic disease care—helping with regular health checks, wound management, supporting lifestyle changes, and providing education about your condition. These conditions often require a comprehensive approach that considers physical, psychological, and social factors.

Chronic disease management may involve longer appointments, treatment plans, and regular follow-ups to help you manage your condition effectively.

Mental Health Care

Mental health is health. We assess and manage common mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, and ADHD.

This might involve developing a Mental Health Treatment Plan, prescribing medication where appropriate, and connecting you with psychologists or other mental health professionals. We also provide ongoing support and monitoring to help you manage your mental health over time.

If you’re struggling, you don’t need to have it all figured out before booking. We can help you work out what’s happening and what might help through our team of doctors, many of whom have additional training in mental health.

Shared Medical Appointments

Shared medical appointments bring together a small group of patients with similar health concerns to meet with a GP as a group.

Instead of individual consultations, patients learn together, share experiences, and develop management strategies in a supportive environment facilitated by their doctor.

How they work

Each session combines medical care with peer support and group learning. Patients receive individual attention within the group setting while benefiting from hearing others’ questions and experiences.

The approach can work particularly well for chronic conditions like diabetes, heart health, or persistent pain where self-management skills and lifestyle changes play a crucial role.

Leading the way

Sandstone Inala Primary Care has pioneered shared medical appointments in Australian general practice, developing and refining this model through careful implementation.

We’ve shared our experience across the healthcare sector and created a practical guide to help other practices establish their own programs.

If you’d like to discuss shared medical appointments further, whether as a patient interested in participating or a healthcare provider wanting to implement this model, please get in touch.

Sandstone Healthcare

Our Approach

Sandstone Healthcare is a not-for-profit general practice that delivers warm, relationship-centred care while pioneering new models that lift community health for good. It’s all outlined in our Patient Charter.

New Patients

We take new patients across our practice sites. We encourage patients to book with doctors they like and enrol with that doctor through MyMedicare. This helps our team know how many patients need to be supported. To make sure that you can get in with your preferred doctor when needed we sometimes limit access to some doctors by closing their books to new patients.

Appointment Types

We know you want to be seen and heard. That is why we have different appointment types. Longer visits are for when you need to discuss more than one issue or require an examination. Some visits need access to a procedure room or a nurse. Our reception team can help you plan your visit and book the right appointment if you tell them what you need.
