Informing patients

Helpful information and policies

Knowing what to expect builds firm foundations in any relationship.  Our key policies let you know how we operate and how we engage.  We encourage all of our patients, families and carers to read our Patient Charter; it outlines our approach to care and our expectations of you as part of the care team.

Working together

Our Patient Charter

Every Australian has access to subsidised healthcare through our Medicare system. However, most people want more than just access. They want connections with doctors they trust to do the right thing. They want a team who coordinates care. They want to be known, heard and engaged.

How we do that is outlined in our Patient Charter. We ask patients to be part of the care team because you know your health better than anyone else. Find out more about how you can work with us for better health by reading on.

Patient information

Our Practice Policies

Your healthcare data is personal, and how we work together matters. These policies explain how our practice operates and what you can expect when you’re in our care.

Our practice is multidisciplinary. We have GPs, nurses, specialists, and allied health providers working together. To provide you with effective care, our health professionals need access to relevant information about your health. This information is stored securely in our practice management system.
We take the security of your health information seriously. Your medical records and personal information are stored securely. Only authorized staff members can access patient information, and access is monitored. If you have questions about how we protect your information or concerns about privacy, speak with our Practice Manager.
We use text messages and email to stay in touch with you about appointments and care. When you register with us, we ask for your permission to contact you by SMS and email.
Email is convenient but it’s not secure for urgent matters or sensitive information. All our emails include standard confidentiality protections. If you email us health information, we treat it as confidential and store it securely. Remember that email isn’t completely private. If you’re concerned about security, call us instead.
We’re a teaching practice. This means we help train the next generation of doctors and nurses. Medical students sometimes sit in with our GPs during consultations as part of their clinical training. This is completely your choice and your decision won’t affect your care in any way.
We sometimes participate in research projects that help improve healthcare and medical knowledge. All research we’re involved in must be approved by independent ethics committees before we can take part. Taking part in research is completely voluntary. Read the policy for further information, or speak to your doctor or our reception team.
Home visits are at the practice’s discretion. We consider them for existing patients who genuinely can’t attend the clinic. Your doctor will assess whether a home visit is appropriate, safe, and within our capacity to provide. Contact our reception team and explain your situation.
You have the right to access your health information held at our practice. We’ll need to verify your identity before providing access to your records. This protects your privacy and ensures information goes to the right person.
Everyone has the right to safe, high-quality, respectful care. This charter explains what you can expect from us, and how we can work together to support your health and wellbeing.
We take all feedback seriously. Complaints and compliments help us focus on what works for patients and improve our care and services. If something hasn’t met your expectations, or has worked particularly well, we want to hear about it.
