Fabiola Bran was a receptionist at the Queensland Health Inala GP service when it transitioned to become our first NFP practice, Inala Primary Care. It was 2007 and Fab was just 28 years old, married with 3 young children. The safe choice would have been to stay with the security of the public service but Fab chose the uncertainty, and vision, of this new trailblazing, non-profit model instead. She was born in El Salvador and fled to Australia as a child, her family leaving everything behind for a safer life. Now she could put her native Spanish to good use, serving the large Latin American migrant community.
These days, as our practice manager, Fab makes sure that our doctors and nurses can focus on seeing patients, and our reception team can focus on helping patients. She keeps everything running smoothly.
Fabiola says: ‘I know the history and the values this place was built on. I’m not going to let those go. I always come back to, “What would be best for our patients? What would be best for our community?” And I love that. I love being the person who can solve problems and make things work.’
