Dr Madeleine Payne had not long finished an Environmental Science degree when a visit to a GP led her to decide to become a GP herself. Dr Maddy remembers how comfortable and open she felt with this new doctor and the implicit trust she had in her. She thought to herself: “She has the best job!” and that thought led her back to university and then to her work now, as an early career GP.
Her commitment to social justice was formed as a child, at the family dinner table where she heard stories from conflict-zone refugees and her mum who worked with them.
What drew her to general practice was the enduring relationships that come from building trust over time. At Sandstone Healthcare, Dr Maddy found colleagues with the same values, ethics and motivations as her own.
Maddy says: ‘I like helping with things that are harder to talk about—teenagers who are difficult to connect with, or people who feel uncomfortable about something. Getting that connection happening, being someone people can be open with, that’s what I love about general practice.’
We’re passionate about good health.
This means our whole team – GPs, nurses, allied health, specialists – work together to give you the time and attention you need. We get to know you, earn your trust, and use our combined specialties to offer new and improved models of care.

Our team sees this as a partnership with you because you know your own life best. And with each other, because great healthcare isn’t a solo act.
As a not-for-profit practice, we invest profits back into bringing fairness and quality healthcare to the communities who need it.
We put our passion into practice because that’s what the best healthcare needs.
